Book Study Series

Our Instructional Support team is launching a series of book studies. We hope to bring you a few book studies each season to help you explore various teaching topics.

All studies are open to any teacher in Franklin-Essex-Hamilton BOCES or one of our component districts.

Summer 2024 Book Studies

Each book study will consist of online posting and discussion. One includes a live discussion session.

June 24 - Aug. 23

"The Civically Engaged Classroom: Reading, Writing, and Speaking for Change"

Book study led by Kathy Bellows

Audience: Teachers of grades 5-12

Format: This book study will be conducted asynchronously via Google Classroom with weekly reading and reflections, plus a final Google Meet where participants will reflect and chat about the book.

"Shifting the Balance: 6 Ways to Bring the Science of Reading into the Upper Elementary Classroom"

Audience: All teachers PK-12

Format: The posts will be due each week by Sunday at 8 p.m. We will use Moodle as the platform for this book study. Once registered, more information will be sent to you. To receive credit, all coursework will need to be completed on time each week and done by September 1. The posts are due July 28, August 4, 11, 18, 25 and September 1.
