Franklin-Essex-Hamilton BOCES will host an open house at North Franklin Educational Center in Malone Wednesday, Oct. 4.
NFEC’s leaders invite families of current students, potential future students, personnel from component school districts and the community to visit the school and learn about the variety of programs hosted there.
The event will kick off at 5 p.m. and wrap up at 7 p.m. NFEC is located at 23 Husky Lane in Malone.
Visitors will be able to tour the school and check out the classrooms, many of which are built to mimic real-world work environments like an auto mechanic shop or a cosmetology salon.
Refreshments will be served by Culinary Arts students.
NFEC serves students in Brushton-Moira, Chateaugay, Malone, St. Regis Falls and Salmon River central school districts. The educational center has eight Career and Technical Education classrooms onsite, as well as an area for the school’s Torch Academy In Person alternative education program.
There will be representatives from the three FEH BOCES New Vision programs at the open house as well. These New Vision programs are run out of NFEC, though actual classes are mostly housed in work sites throughout the year. New Vision Education students study and get classroom experience at St. Joseph’s Elementary. New Vision Government and Law students are based at the church between the Malone village offices and the Franklin County Courthouse. And the New Vision Health Care Exploration class meets at Alice Hyde Medical Center.
Adirondack Educational Center in Saranac Lake, the other school run by FEH BOCES, will host an open house on Oct. 19.
