The Building Trades program at North Franklin Educational Center, part of Franklin-Essex-Hamilton BOCES, hosted an Open House for a modular home built by its skilled students. Beginning the project in September, the students worked diligently to complete the fully constructed home, which was made available for bidding. The Open House took place on Friday, February 1, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the North Franklin Educational Center in Malone, providing the public with a chance to view the home before placing bids.
The modular home, measuring 28' x 56', featured a spacious and well-designed layout, including a living room (17’8” x 13’10”), a kitchen (15' x 13') with plywood cabinets and Formica countertops, three comfortable bedrooms, a master suite with a walk-in closet and dressing room, and a thoughtfully planned master bath. The home also included a laundry room, utility room, and a common bath.

Since September, students in the Building Trades program at NFEC had been involved in every phase of the home’s construction—from framing and drywall to electrical installation and insulation. This hands-on project allowed them to apply their skills and gain valuable real-world experience in the construction field.
The Open House provided attendees with an opportunity to tour the home, learn more about the construction process, and place a bid on the modular home. The minimum bid for the home was $115,000, and all interested buyers were encouraged to attend the event.
