Wellness Wednesday tip for stressful times: Reduce anxiety by reducing risk. Practice social distancing & good hygiene (Sneeze & cough into your elbow or into a tissue & immediately throw the tissue away, wash hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, etc.).
Motivation Monday: Spring really is on its way! We’ll have warmer temperatures by the end of the week. Get outside and enjoy it when you can.

Self-care Saturday tip for stressful times: Manage your information flow. Give yourself a break from constantly checking the news or social media feeds. Choose a couple of reputable sources such as state and local authorities, Centers for Disease Control, or World Health Organization and commit to check in no more than two or three times a day for updates.
Wellness Wednesday tip for stressful times: Virtually reach out to different types of support networks, such as family, friends, colleagues, faith-based communities, and social organizations to strengthen your overall feeling of connection. Find meaningful tasks to channel your anxiety, such as coordinating deliveries of groceries to those unable to leave home or calling people who might feel socially isolated. Supporting others is beneficial to the supporter as well.
Self-care Saturday tip for stressful times: Take an opportunity to practice mindfulness when managing anxiety. Mindfulness tools such as grounding exercises, sensory modulation, and deep breathing may be helpful.

Wellness Wednesday Tip for stressful times: Control what you can. Create a plan to manage your disrupted routines (e.g. setting up remote work or alternative childcare arrangements). Setting out a plan can help reduce anxiety by taking charge of the things you can control.

New Vision alumnus follows career path to state government
Our New Vision programs offer career exploration in a variety of fields. The Government and Law class recently visited the NY State Capitol as part of their studies. While being introduced to the workings of the state senate by our Senator Betty Little, they had a chance to meet a former student, Nicholas Haas, Jr., Class of 2012.
Since completing our program, Nick earned an undergraduate degree at Sage College in Albany. As part of his college program he interned at the State Capitol. Now he works for New York Senator Michael Ranzenhofer. A recent meeting he attended discussed BOCES funding. Nick shared his positive experiences at Franklin-Essex-Hamilton BOCES with them. A proud “product of New Vision”, he spoke highly of his program.
FEH-BOCES and New Vision celebrate the successes of our alumni!
